Our Talents Belong to God (Part One:Christ in My Career)

What keeps many from thinking about being a witness in their workplace is the belief that the sacred and secular are separate. What happens on Sunday stays on Sunday. Growing up I was under the impression that we could live as we like during the week as long as we gave God Sundays and Wednesday nights. But since I gave my life to the Lord, I have learned better.

Not only does our little 10% belong to the Lord, our whole life does. In this post I would like to share a little of the first chapter of Allen W. Graves’ book, “Christ in My Career”, published in 1958 by Convention Press. He brings out Paul’s writing in 1 Cor. 6:19-20,

“What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price.”

 And Mr. Graves says, “Christians belong to God, A Christian’s life is measured by the way in which it is used for God.” Or may I say, “Used by God?”  Also, Mr. Graves adds, “The freedom of the Christian is disciplined by his loyalty to Christ and a desire to please Him.”

Now you may ask, “Which part is he talking about?” The Word of God is very plain; “all” belongs to God. First, our talents belong to God. The whole reason we are given talents, gifts, and skills is for God’s use and the work of God through His Church. Romans 12:1 read,

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”

To use our talents for service is the least we can do, the most reasonable things for us to do in our workplace.  Without this attitude of the ownership of our talents to God, we will never be effective in our Christian lives in reaching the lost.

Obama re-elected as Punishment of God

I had read a post by missionary (haiti), Yvonne Melchionne Trimble, the other day. She prophecied that Obama would win and it was the punishment of God on America. I also believe this is true. The Bible speaks of God putting in place rulers, but He will give the people what they demand and the people will have to be held responsible. So with the judgement of God on US. We can turn to the OT and see which why we must now go. Our preachers must leave their get rich gospel and self-help teachings and preach Repentance. We must turn back to God. The Bible was writin for our instruction, it is all there. First let us develope our relationship with the Lord ourselves so we can hear His voice. Then spread what the Lord is telling you. You will know it because it will agree with the Word of God. Humble yourselves Christians, heal the sick, feed the hungrey and preach the gospel to the poore. That's what we do best.

Biju Janata Dal Manifesto: End of Christian Persecution India?

*Bhubaneswar : *With the Kandhamal communal violence in the backdrop, Biju
Janata Dal (BJD) chief and Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday
went all out to wash away the “stains” by promising complete security to all
communities 1to perform religious programmes in his party’s manifesto.

In the 40-page manifesto marked by the absence of any spectacular poll
promise for the electorate, the only thing evident was Naveen’s eagerness to
prove his secular credentials. “Each bone of my body is secular,” read the
caption with Naveen’s picture on the back cover of the manifesto booklet. In
the manifesto released at the BJD headquarters on Friday afternoon, Naveen
said special attention would be given to the development of education,
health, economy and culture of the minority community.

In the manifesto, Naveen claimed that in the past five years, he had
provided grant-in-aid to all schools, colleges and health centres run by
Christian institutions and gave grant-in-aid to teachers of 87 madrasas.
Grants for repairs and reconstruction of all religious institutions like
temples, churches and mosques damaged during communal riots have been given,
he claimed.

But prominent Christian leader and member of National Integration Council
John Dayal said, “The ghost of Kandhamal will always haunt him. Secularism
is not in the bones, it is in the action,” Dayal told The Indian Express.

The BJD has promised that no one will remain hungry and promised free
electricity to farmers. The party has also promised a specially constituted
authority for development of the physically handicapped.

Other promises in the manifesto are generation of 15 lakh employment in the
industrial sector, establishment of 5,000 girl hostels to accommodate five
lakh girls in the next five years, expansion of Mission Shakti programme to
make five lakh more woman self-reliant and drainage and sewerage,
water-supply and road development in all urban areas.
